AIDAvita launches new route in the Caribbean

Experience beautiful beaches, New Orleans, and the cultural heritage of the Mayas
Rostock, 15. December 2014

Starting on December 14, 2014, Miami is the new start and end port of AIDAvita for cruises to highlights around the Gulf of Mexico. The program for the first time includes Tampa on Florida’s West Coast, New Orleans, Mexico’s Cozumel, and Key West. They are part of AIDA’s new attractive butterfly route, which will allow guests to discover new territory in the Caribbean starting in the winter of 2014/2015. On the second route, Port Canaveral, Puerto Rico, Tortola, Samana in the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas will be visited.

The starting point for the 10-day trip is Florida’s vibrant beach city of Miami. Thanks to the overnight stay, on both trips the guests will have a great deal of time for discovery. Among the absolute highlights of Miami is the “South Beach” district, with its colorful art deco buildings and endless sandy beach. Ocean Drive is one of the most famous beach promenades in the world. Celebrities also love Miami. Those who have always wanted to see how the stars live in the “Sunshine State” may do so on a boat tour around Fisher Island.

On its premiere cruise, AIDAvita will first travel from Miami to Tampa. In addition to the long beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida Aquarium is a popular tourist attraction. Cuban-influenced Ybor City is known for the manufacture of cigars. The next stop on the tour is New Orleans. The city embodies Southern charm. The home of jazz music has its own swing. In addition to a stroll through the famous French Quarter, one should of course also sample the delicious Creole specialties. Not far from the city, you can immerse yourself in the history of Louisiana plantations and feel like Scarlett O’Hara in “Gone with the Wind” when visiting the former mansions. AIDAvita stays overnight, so guests will also have the opportunity to experience the nightlife. In Cozumel, guests are offered a charming blend of Mayan culture, beautiful beaches, and outstanding dive sites. The island is also an ideal starting point for excursions to the mainland of Yucatán. Especially worthwhile is a visit to the fabled Mayan city Chichén Itzá. The last stop on the trip is Key West, the southernmost of the 31 coral islands of the Florida Keys. Even the famous writer Ernest Hemingway succumbed to the charm of the city and declared it to be “the greatest place in the world at any time and on any day.”

While fascinating places beckon exploration on shore, AIDAvita provides its own wide range of relaxation and entertainment possibilities on board – whether sunbathing on the pool deck or sipping a cocktail while enjoying the Caribbean scenery. Fitness options such as workout classes, spinning, and jogging are a hit with sports enthusiasts. The wellness area features a sauna, massages, and beauty treatments for relaxation. To delight the palate, the buffet restaurant and the gourmet restaurant Rossini beckon. Top-notch entertainment options include various shows, live bands, and a DJ.

Until the last cruise on the butterfly route of AIDAvita on April 9, 2015, there will be a total of eleven travel dates to choose from. The cruise is available from 599 euros per person, including an arrival and departure travel package from 1659 euros per person.
