The mechatronics engineering training program is specialized, practical training based on state-of-the-art technology on board our ships.

We select the candidates for this program during our applicant days. Upon acceptance, the best applicants will be trained on land and at sea for 3 ½ years in the maintenance and servicing of electrical and mechanical systems. They acquire knowledge in complex maritime technology and during the third apprenticeship year, they are given special training with a focus in machine operation, electrical systems or hotel technology. The broad training also includes knowledge in safety-related technical topics.

In addition to the hands-on assignments on board, the trainees will navigate basic maritime training on the sail training vessel "Großherzogin Elisabeth", corporate training at the training and continuing education center in Rostock (AFZ) as well as at the vocational training school in Güstrow. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce certificate for a mechatronics engineer qualifies the graduate to work as a trained technical professional on board. Basic training for maritime-related professions

Vocational training and academic studies at AIDA are far from dry theory: Our trainees are integrated into the daily work on board our cruise ships right from the start. We also offer all nautical as well as technical vocational trainees and students basic training for maritime-related professions on the sail training vessel "Großherzogin Elisabeth".

During the two- to four-week deployments on the three-masted sailing ship nicknamed "Lissi", the students and trainees gain important knowledge and skills in the areas of navigation, cartography, signaling as well as weather and sailing. Docents from maritime sciences and the ship's core staff teach the junior sailors all the basics necessary to engage in hands-on activities on board our cruise ships from day one and on.
