Our sustainability reporting is based on the provisions and regulations of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). We have thus provided an explanation for each indicator in our reporting. This provides more detailed information on how we fulfill the criteria in question. It provides all interested parties with a comprehensive insight into our activities.
In the annual sustainability report, AIDA cares, we document how we fulfill our responsibility, the relevant goals that we have achieved and the challenges we face for the future. Given the planed transition from GRI 3 to GRI 4 and the involved consolidation of our reporting in the year 2015, we’ve decided to only update our reporting from 2013 for the year 2014. We would like to use the transition-year 2014 to align our reporting together with the other companies within the Carnival Corporation and prepare for the requirements of GRI 4. This report contains all information from the 2013 fiscal year that we consider important in this regard. All parts of the AIDA Cruises company have been given equal coverage.
The Carnival group as a whole defined and introduced comparable indicators right back in 2009. This makes it easier to compare the different reports and bring together the key indicators at corporate level. Data collection is managed by the specialist departments in collaboration with the Director for Environment and Community, Dr. Monika Griefahn, and covers the areas of Controlling, Energy and Environment, Guests and Personnel.
