An insight into the world of AIDA

world of AIDA

In order to give potential up-and-coming talent a comprehensive insight into our working world, we regularly inform pupils, students and those just starting their careers about the multifaceted career opportunities that exist both on board and ashore. Our Campus of Excellence e. V. is part of this. This initiative encourages networking between young talent and companies.Within the framework of this initiative, we have been facilitating dialog between those involved in teaching, research and practical experience since 2009. Together, we initiate projects and presentations in the areas of training and employment.

In 2011, for the first time we lent our support to the MINT project (promoting Mathematics, Information Technology, Natural Sciences and Technology) as part of the Campus of Excellence. As part of this education initiative, we gave eight technically and academically outstanding pupils from Germany, Hungary and Poland the opportunity to carry out their own projects at AIDA. The areas they worked in ranged from customer management to management accounting, right through to marine operations and information technology. The aim of the Campus of Excellence is to support these committed and highly motivated participants in making study and career choices.

Our awards

awards

2011 Career Builder award.
We build careers – and are the only company in the tour operator category to be awarded the “Karrieremacher” award. This coveted seal of approval is awarded by the UNICUM publishing house to the companies which most frequently receive the rating “good” or “very good” in a survey of more than 1,000 graduates and young professionals. The criteria included are appeal, image, attractiveness as an employer, career opportunities and credibility. In 2011, UNICUM singled out a total of 21 German companies as the top professional choices for young graduates.

awards

AIDA is one of Germany’s top ten employers. The independent Corporate Research Foundation Institute (CRF) carries out an annual evaluation of human resources in all German companies over five categories. The organization praised AIDA Cruises’ performance as particularly outstanding in the category of Training & Development.

Fair practices for trainees.
We participate in the „Fair Company“ initiative coordinated by karriere.de, a portal jointly operated by the two German business newspapers, Handelsblatt and Wirtschaftswoche, and we are committed to fair practices with regard to interns, students and university graduates. In addition to a fair wage, the initiative also promotes practices such as only giving internships to those interested in training – and still in education. This has contributed to us holding the “Fair Company” quality seal since 2010.

The benefits of synergy

As a member of the Rostock Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s “Demographics and safeguarding specialist skills” working group, we are committed to improving cooperation between schools, universities and businesses. We thus contribute to providing pupils and students with the best preparation for entry into the workforce. Furthermore, we have booths at national and international career fairs and we organize road shows and information days.

Cross-company career portal

career portal

In 2011, we already received more than two-thirds of all applications online. We are consistently expanding our Lead-to-Web strategy so that we will continue to be able to increase this number in the future. A fundamental component of this is our career portal which has been remodeled and given additional features within the framework of the February 2012 relaunch. In the future, potential applicants will be able to access the information they require – for example a suitable job description or all relevant information on the diverse working opportunities both on board and ashore – all with just one click. The search function has also been improved to make the process more user-friendly. Our offers for trainees and students are to be given more prominence and explained more comprehensively. New content such as videos and a generally more modern and clearly laid-out design will help achieve this. To our career portal
