For many years AIDA Cruises has already been supporting one of Germany’s biggest maritime festivals with a vast array of initiatives.
For the third time in a row AIDA Cruises has agreed to sponsor a ship for one of these major public attractions. Thanks to the support of the Rostock-based cruise company, the venerable vessel “Kruzenshtern” will be a guest at the 26th Hanse Sail from August 11–14, 2016. The “Kruzenshtern”, a four-masted barque, is the only remaining ship still in service from the famous Flying-P Liners fleet owned by the shipping company, F. Laeisz, and it will form part of the impressive windjammer parade that will be taking place next weekend against the picturesque backdrop of Rostock-Warnemünde.
“Our continued support of the “Hanse-Tour-Sonnenschein” in the 20th year of the association’s existence is a matter very close to our hearts,” says Hansjörg Kunze, Vice President Communication & Sustainability AIDA Cruises. “We want our involvement to draw the attention of others to this project as well and make a contribution towards both continuing to support research and making the lives of seriously ill children and their parents easier.” AIDA Cruises donated a one-week AIDA cruise as a prize for the sweepstake held as part of the charity cycling tour from August 10–13, 2016.
This year AIDA Cruises will be bringing two of the eleven ships in its fleet to the Hanse Sail. AIDAmar and AIDAdiva will visit Warnemünde on August 13 and August 14, 2016 respectively. Both ships will be berthed at the cruise terminal from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The arrival of AIDA ships at the Hanse Sail is always a high point for ship fans. Getting their respective 7 and 10-day cruises to the most beautiful Baltic metropolises off to a great start, AIDAmar and AIDAdiva guests will enjoy the maritime charm of the festival and, when the ships set sail, they will have one of the most spectacular views of Warnemünde from the pool deck. The AIDA Cruises’ season in Rostock-Warnemünde comes to an end on October 15, 2016, with a final highlight: the cry of “cast off!” will be heard when AIDAmar sets off on its transatlantic crossing to New York via Hamburg, the Azores and Canada.
With 41 arrivals in 2016, this year AIDA Cruises is once again the most important partner of the Hanseatic City of Rostock in the area of cruises, and one of the key economic factors for the region as a whole.
