AIDA: three arrivals in Kiel

AIDAaura, AIDAvita and AIDAluna visiting the Kiel Fjord
Rostock, 29. July 2016

On July 30, 2016, three AIDA ships will be coming to Kiel. AIDAvita will arrive in Kiel bright and early at about 6:30 in the morning. AIDAaura and AIDAluna will pull in together a little later at about 8 o’clock. While AIDAaura will dock at Satorikai, both of the other ships will be at the Ostseekai terminal. All three AIDA ships will leave port together at about 6 o’clock in the evening. Kiel residents and visitors alike will not want to miss this unique parade of ships.

For guests on AIDAaura, this means the very first “Anchors aweigh!” on a new, fascinating voyage to Greenland. It marks the first time of being able to visit the world’s biggest island with AIDA without having to take a plane. The 21-day, round-trip cruise goes to Greenland, via Iceland, and back. Apart from Reykjavik, other highlights of the cruise will include first-time stops at Sisimiut and Nuuk on the west coast of Greenland, and the spectacular passage on the way to Qaqortoq, through the over 100-kilometer-long Prince Christian Sound.

AIDAvita will be heading out on a 14-day, round-trip cruise through Norway's fjords. The 7-day itinerary with AIDAluna includes visiting Stavanger and Flåm. On Monday, both ships will meet up again in Bergen, Norway, on the first stop of their voyages.

AIDA Cruises has played a significant role in the Port of Kiel developing into one of Germany’s leading cruise ports. The maiden voyage of AIDA’s first ship, today’s AIDAcara, included a visit to Kiel already back on June 8, 1996. With 138 arrivals, AIDAcara is the most frequent guest of the Kiel Fjord to date.
AIDA Cruises’ continued expansion of the AIDA fleet helped make Kiel a popular home port for voyages to Northern Europe and the Baltic region. The opening of the modern Ostseekai cruise terminal in 2007 with the arrival of AIDAdiva, was the next important milestone. The christening of AIDAsol on April 9, 2011, was unforgettable. During the course of the tremendous christening party, 45,000 Kiel residents and guests welcomed the eighth member of the AIDA fleet.
With a total of 51 arrivals by three ships (AIDAluna, AIDAvita and AIDAaura), AIDA Cruises is the Port of Kiel’s most important partner once again in 2016.
