AIDA Cruises was event sponsor for the 125th “Kieler Woche” from June 22 to 30, 2019. As the grand finale, AIDA presented the big fireworks display on Sunday evening.
This magnificent show illuminated the night sky over the Förde and turned it into a glittering sea of color. While the fireworks lighted up the sky, AIDAbella departed from Kiel and set course for Lerwick (Great Britain). On the 14-day voyage departing from Kiel, the ship will also stop in Iceland, Scotland and Denmark.
For nine days, visitors of the “Kieler Woche” experienced a maritime program full of variety along the Kiellinie and on the water. At the AIDA holiday world, visitors had the opportunity to explore an AIDAnova show stateroom and to learn more about travelling with AIDA. In addition to AIDAbella, AIDAluna, AIDAcara and AIDAprima presented themselves on the water during the “Kieler Woche”.
AIDA and the seaport of Kiel share a long-standing partnership. With 60 calls by four AIDA ships this year, AIDA Cruises is again the most strongly represented cruise line in Kiel and continues to be an important economic factor and magnet for many residents of Kiel and guests. In 2018, AIDA Cruises and the state government of Schleswig-Holstein established a partnership for eco-friendly cruise tourism that e.g. aims at the development of shore power supply at the Port of Kiel by 2020. By the end of next year, AIDA ships built starting from 2000 will be equipped for shore power. AIDA Cruises is ready to start test operations in Kiel in 2020.
This summer season, the AIDA ships are departing from Kiel for Norway and the Baltic. AIDAprima, which had its first call in Kiel this year, is sailing to Tallinn, St. Petersburg, Helsinki and Stockholm on 7-day cruises until October. Two cruises along Norway’s coast are also on the program in July 2019. AIDAluna is heading up to the Arctic Circle and AIDAbella is taking guests to the North Cape, Iceland, the Lofoten, and around Great Britain.
Those new to cruises have the opportunity to visit an AIDA ship in Kiel. The three-hour tour offers an in-depth look at the public areas on the ship and various staterooms. Tickets are 49 euros per person and include lunch at one of the buffet restaurants. Children aged 15 and under can visit the ship for free. Ship tour bookings are offered at www.aida.de/schiffsbesuche.
