New on AIDA cruises: Exploration tours with the Scuddy
Scuddy is a portmanteau of “scooter” and “buddy”. This small electric three-wheel scooter achieved its breakthrough on the TV show “Höhle der Löwen (Germany’s “Shark Tank”) when it instantly won over the investor and experience expert Jochen Schweizer. Now it’s also available on AIDA cruises.
The first guests with a chance to test this agile scooter are those aboard AIDAmar on Baltic cruises. The vehicle is easy to operate and can be ridden with or without a saddle. The Scuddy can reach speeds of up to 20 km/h and has a 1.5 KW motor. Guests are given a precise tutorial about the scooter’s functionality before each tour.
In Tallinn, the Scuddy tour takes in Tallinn’s lower city, the cathedral church and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral before heading for the plaza in front of the the city hall. The tour next follows a forest trail to St. Bridget’s Convent, and then along the Baltic coast to the Olympic harbor.
In the Finnish capital, Helsinki, guests firstly travel with the electric scooter into the city to see the famous rock church and the Sibelius monument. The tour is rounded off by leaving the city for the beautiful countryside, gliding along the shoreline and forest trails.
In Stockholm, the tour first travels along the shore of Mälar Lake, across the city’s highest bridge, to city hall. On the way there, Scuddy drivers enjoy fantastic views as they pass along Strandvägen heading for the landscaped grounds of Djurgården island. A visit to the Vasa museum is also included before guests travel along forest cycle paths and on the water in the direction of the old city and past the royal palace, on their way back to the ship.
Scuddy tours are open to guests aged 16 and over. The tours cover a distance of between 25 and 30 kilometers and can be booked from 79.99 euros.
