AIDAprima – First containers on their way to Japan
The new cruise ship AIDAprima is currently getting the basic equipment for its operation. The first containers departed the Hamburg port for Nagasaki on the freighter “Antwerpen Express” on June 3, 2015.
The 31 containers are carrying equipment for the hotel and technical areas. This includes the first kitchen utensils for the crew mess hall with pots, cups, glasses, cutlery and plates, for example. The beds, pillows, covers and towels for the crew area are also being brought to Japan by sea for AIDA’s new addition to the fleet.
Maik Ebeling, AIDAprima’s provisions manager, is in charge of the entire logistics of the ship equipment. “The containers will reach the port of Nagasaki at the end of July and then the AIDAprima crew will move them onto the cruise ship,” Ebeling said.
AIDAprima is starting its maiden voyage from Yokohama, Japan, on October 1, 2015. The cruise ship will complete seven-day routes from Dubai and Abu Dhabi through the Orient in the following winter season. AIDAprima’s first seven-day journey from Hamburg to Western European cities will start on April 30, 2016. In the future, this route will be on the cruise schedule throughout the year.
